Beyond the Classroom
As a Shenandoah University College of Arts and Sciences student, you will earn a degree by engaging in learning activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Classroom learning will come from the courses that you successfully complete for your chosen program of study. The Beyond the Classroom program ensures that essential learning is taking place outside the classroom! Not only will you attend events that may broaden your interests, but you will have an opportunity to connect with other CAS students and faculty members outside of the traditional learning environment.

Program Requirements
Students must successfully complete three 0.5-credit courses for the Beyond the Classroom program: BTC 101, BTC 102, and BTC 103, for a total of 1.5 credits. All incoming students will automatically be enrolled in BTC courses in their first academic year at Shenandoah University and will choose when to complete the remaining credits.
- A student may earn an ‘A’ or ‘U’ grade based on at least 7 units of attendance at BTC-sponsored events.
- An earned grade of ‘A’ is considered a successful completion. An earned grade of ‘U’ will require the student to repeat the course for credit before completing the next course in the sequence.
- Accommodations may be granted to students with extenuating circumstances and approval by the BTC committee.
